STYLE GURU BIO: Jaida Brinkley

Hey there Fashionstas/os! I’m Jaida Brinkley, a converged broadcast media major at the University of North Texas who enjoys running off of coffee and dreaming of becoming our generation’s Oprah Winfrey. Growing up I was always the “shy child,” naturally I looked for ways to express myself without having to say a word. At a young age I found comfort and self-expression through traditional art like painting which then progressed to digital media. I love being able to create a vision in my mind and make it a reality. This ability is what I admire most about fashion, whether it’s designers or Fashionistas/os I see walking through campus.

When it comes to my personal style I’m a firm believer that less is more. Especially this summer, I plan to keep my wardrobe light. This look is my go-to for when you’re rushing to leave but you still want to be presentable. A simple black dress, or any color really, is a must have for me in the summer. They’re simple, easy to through on and fit my definition of effortlessly chic. The small detail of cut outs adds an extra element to the dress to prevent it from becoming too basic. I know I’m kind of late to the party but I know I’m not the only person obsessed with chokers. I decided to add a DIY leather cord choker to my look layered with my Baublebar initial necklace.

Continuing on with the all black and small statements of gold, I added these single strapped sandals with a lace up details. One of the things that I love about simple outfits like this is that you can dress them up just by changing your shoes, making you always prepared for a sudden change of plans. Last but not least I added my favorite small cross-body bag with gold accents and classic details.

This is my second semester with CollegeFashionista and I am so excited to share with you guys my fashion finds over this summer!
