STYLE GURU BIO: Jade Sayson

Hello everyone! I’m Jade, and I’m beyond excited to be a Style Guru for the first time this semester! I am currently majoring in journalism and minoring in fashion business as a freshman at Columbia College Chicago. Fashion has always been an important part of my life, but so has writing, music, photography, and traveling. Everyone who knows me would agree that 75% of what I own is probably either blush pink or rose gold. I’m obsessed with anything that’s metallic or iridescent, and I absolutely live by winged eyeliner.

Ever since I started living in the city this fall, I’ve fallen in love with every second of it. Constantly being surrounded by the fast-paced busyness of Chicago, its people, and its culture, not a day has gone by when I haven’t been inspired to keep working to reach my goals. College Fashionista is yet another opportunity the city has brought me, and I can’t wait to be able to write about different students, helping to spread the passion for beauty and fashion.

My style can range all the way from vibrant and urban to elegant and classic. However, I don’t like to label or limit myself to just one specific category. But that’s what I love most about fashion—you never have to! I love being able to experiment with different prints and textures whether it’s with velvety fabrics or various metals, always aiming to create new ensembles out of what I have. Although I like to keep up with the trends, I like to change things up by adding my own little twist. I think it’s amazing how much a set of clothes can change your mood or how you’re feeling instantaneously. Being bold is something I am not afraid to do when it comes to fashion, and I believe I can truly, confidently be myself when I’m wearing an outfit in which I can express my individuality.

For this look, I decided to take some of my favorite pieces that I own, including this unique graphic tee I got from Bershka during my trip in London this past summer. I kept it minimal with a blush pink and black outfit but played around with different textures by pairing it with a fuzzy knit cardigan from Forever 21 and a corduroy high-waisted skirt from PacSun. To top it all off, I wore fishnet tights and a glitter choker from Urban Outfitters to add a little bit of a ‘90s vibe. Of course, you can’t go wrong with a pair of over-the-knee-high socks and chelsea boots to add some warmth for the colder weather!

I hope you enjoy this ensemble I put together, and I’m so thrilled to be able to write articles for you guys and use this platform as another creative outlet! I can’t wait to blog and interact with you all this spring semester!
