Hello my fellow CollegeFashionista/os! I’m Jacy Tilton, a senior Strategic Communication major in the University of Missouri – Columbia Journalism School. This semester I will be covering the brand new column “What to Wear,” which will provide ideas each week on what to wear for different occasions and events ranging from classes to concerts to job interviews. But first, a little more about me…
I have big dreams for the future, and while I have some specific goals in the short-term, I can see myself wearing many different hats as I continue down the unpredictable road that is life. Upon graduating in May, I hope to start my career in Public Relations, while doing some freelance writing and continuing to grow my personal style blog (lenore lamé) on the side. Ultimately, my “dream job” would be to do fashion PR or to become a fashion columnist, but at 21 years old it’s impossible to know what lies ahead.
My personal style could be described as trendy and feminine with a slight Bohemian twist, simple but fashion-forward and always affordable. I typically prefer to wear a statement piece rather than layering, and I like to add an unexpected element to every outfit, whether it’s through accessories or an interesting combination of pieces. I’ve followed the runway and editorial sides of the fashion industry since high school, but in recent years I’ve gained a lot inspiration from fashion bloggers and stylish people I know as well. I enjoy gaining fashion insight from both high-end and more every day sources, and I’ve loved learning more about the many different aspects of the fashion world.
I’m honored to get to spearhead this new CollegeFashionista feature for the Mizzou campus, and I think it will be both exciting and challenging to cover such a wide range of styles and trends. Missouri may not exactly be the fashion capital of the world, but I hope to prove (one post at a time) that some of us Missourians have a love for fashion and the ability to style with the rest of ‘em.
