STYLE GURU BIO: Jacquelyn Kaiser

Hey, Fashionistas/os! My name is Jacquelyn Kaiser, and I am a freshman at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. I am majoring in Fashion Merchandising. I grew up in Northern, New Jersey, so I was just an hour away from the fashion capital of the world, New York City!

I have always loved art and design growing up, but it was not until middle school that I became more interested in fashion.  I started watching the TV series, Project Runway, when I was in my early teens, and I realized that I may want to pursue a career in the fashion industry.

I participated in a program at my high school called “Catwalk”, which was based off of the Project Runway show. I fell in love with designing and constructing garments, and I knew that the fashion world was meant for me.  In high school I was also a member on the BP Fashion Board at Nordstrom. I attended a pre-college course at FIT in New York City, called “Passion for Fashion Styling.” I absolutely love NYC, and I hope to participate in many internships in the city over the course of my college years.

Some clubs that I am involved in at Marist include, Fashion Inc., Emerging Leaders Program, Photography Club and Campus Ministry. For the spring semester, I will be the Activity and Community Service Coordinator for Fashion Inc. I am taking French classes, and I am planning to study abroad in Paris my junior year!

My hobbies include photography, watching movies and shopping! I love to stay active, and I attend fitness classes, such as zumba, pilates and yoga. I also enjoy playing tennis for the intramural team at Marist.

My favorite stores include Urban Outfitters, Express and American Eagle. I enjoy looking around small boutiques near my town, where I often find cute clothes and accessories. My favorite designers include Kate Spade, Steve Madden, Zac Posen, Michael Kors and Tori Burch.

Although my style changes often, currently I would describe it as chic with an edgy touch. I am wearing an H&M jacket, a local boutique sweater and American Eagle Outfitters dark skinny jeans. I paired this look with Steve Madden booties and a cross-body bag from Nordstrom. This is one of my favorite jackets, because I love the leather detailing on the sleeves, the gold zipper accent and the tie around the waist. I also really like this cross-body bag, and I find it to be very versatile.

I am very excited to be a Style Guru this spring semester!  Be on the lookout for my upcoming style posts!
