Hello and happy summer fellow Fashionistas/Fashionistos! My name is Jaclyn Carbone and I am in my second year at Ryerson University, majoring in retail management. Throughout my first year at Ryerson University, I took part in the fall 2012 and spring 2013 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Toronto where I assisted designers and helped dress models. Being apart of this event was validation of my passion for fashion. I loved every minute of it (even the high pressure back stage moments). I am eager to learn all aspects of the fashion/retail industry and I am thrilled to begin my internship with CollegeFashionista this summer 2013!
I’m from a small town north of Toronto and the saying, “If you blink you’ll miss it” is an understatement. Growing up I went to a Catholic High School where uniforms were mandatory-kilt, polo shirts, opaque tights—the whole nine yards. Nothing like the clothes Blair and Serena wore on Gossip Girl (sigh). I believe wearing a uniform was the best thing that could have ever happened to my style—I became in love with accessorizing: rings, bracelets and headbands (which are my kryptonite) started to overflow my closet. Fast forward five years to my current accessory addictions: statement necklaces and designer watches; which in my book can never do any wrong.
My personal style has yet to be defined, I’m still experimenting- I enjoy trying new things when it comes to fashion and am open to new trends. With that said my go-to outfit is preppy yet casual-chic. In the winter months I reach for pieces which are comfortable yet edgy; a typical winter outfit includes a pair of riding boots, coloured denim jeans, a loose basic tee and a slouchy sweater (can you say college student). In the spring and summer months my style does a total 360 I am obsessed with everything and anything with colour! This year I have been collecting a lot of bright neon and floral prints- I just can’t get enough. Additionally, bright lips are my staple for spring and summer. Maybelline has a great new collection called Colour Sensational Vivids , and I may or may not have purchased the whole collection.
This summer you can find my articles weekly as I will be reporting on stylish students within the GTA on WHAT TO WEAR to various occasions and how you too can achieve their look, and which trends to look out for this summer season!
