STYLE GURU BIO: Isabel Gutierrez

Hello Fashionistas/os! I am so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista for my second semester! This semester, I am starting my sophomore year at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where I am studying marketing and management.

Fall is my favorite time of the year for many reasons: football, pumpkin flavored foods and of course, fall fashion! Fall fashion is the best in my opinion because of the layering, patterns, colors and the fact that we get to start wearing sweaters again. In New Orleans, it can be difficult to get in the fall spirit because it feels like summer until the end of October. That didn’t stop me from trying to channel fall in this back to school look.

I picked Tulane for many different reasons. It was just an added bonus that one of our school colors is one of my favorite colors, olive green. For this look, I decided to incorporate a little school spirit by sporting one of my favorite tops. This loose olive green peplum tank is a great staple because its billowy nature helps keep you cool. I layered this top with a black lace bralette and some black skinny jeans.

To finish off this look, I wore some classic Jack Rodgers sandals. I love this platinum color because it goes with everything. These shoes are tough to break in, but once you do,  they’re perfect. When it comes to accessories, you will never see me without my cross necklace, my gold necklace from my grandmother, and usually another necklace to finish it off.  This fall, I will be carrying my favorite bucket bag around. This one is so versatile because it combines black and brown leather, so you can wear any color shoes. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with this silver bangle that I am wearing. I always mess up my outfit by wearing a ponytail band around my wrist, but now, I can put on this bracelet and use it whenever I want. Who says you need to sacrifice fashion for functionality?

This semester, I plan to focus on using more color in my day to day looks and accessorizing more. I can’t wait to see what New Orleans has to offer in the realm of street style. Thanks for checking out my bio!
