STYLE GURU BIO: Hutton Becker

What’s up Fashionistas/os! My name is Hutton Becker and I am a California girl living in Charleston, South Carolina. I am a junior at the College of Charleston, majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Communications. Since eighth grade, online shopping and blogging have become an addiction for me. I currently have more open shopping tabs than most people can handle on there Safari page. I am beyond excited to dive further into the fashion world with this personal style outlet and the talented team at CollegeFashionista.

My friends have always referred to me as the “shopping addict,” so I’m hoping to share my passion (sometimes obsession) with you guys. I would like to say my style is the outlet of my perfectionistic personality, but essentially fashion is the only part of life I am a perfectionist about. I cant say there is one item or piece that defines my wholesome wardrobe, but my gladiator sandals (high or low) have become my go-to piece for this in-between summer-fall season. Living in Charleston, which is not exactly New York City or Los Angeles, but is as I see it, the Southern hub for fashion, photography and design. My style has evolved immensely from the beginning days of Limited Too to the ever-more expensive sites and stores of today (to my parents’ dismay). As a college student, balancing high end purchases and/or purchasing pieces that last in your wardrobe is extremely important in creating your individual style.

I cannot say I am the most creative person, though this summer I delved into my more creative fashion design side at the Rhode Island School of Design. Pushing your creative boundaries or just your comfort boundaries in general is a key component in the fashion industry today. Buying and styling pieces that aren’t specifically trendy is what sets your style apart. Self-expression with aggressive or rather audacious or bold pieces is my favorite thing to look at on the runway. These pieces become statement items that push Fashionistas/os’ comfort boundaries. This bright romper, a steal I picked up from Finders Keepers pushed the boundary for my usual monochromatic closet. Accessorizing the bright with the simple is one of my favorite things to do. I’m not really someone who wears statement jewelry, but my discovery of the brand Bagatiba has led me to a simple and semi-statement collaboration. These are just a few of the pieces I see as extremely beneficial for this coming into fall season.
