STYLE GURU BIO: Hannah Chauvin

Hello hello my fellow Fashionista/os! My name is Hannah Chauvin and I am (almost) a senior Political Science major at Stonehill College. While most of you are relaxing on beaches or clocking into summer jobs, I’m finishing my academic year in Paris, France. While I’m logging an extra month of classes, I’m also taking in all the fashion glory that Paris has to offer. Here, every day is like Fashion Week and I am lucky enough to witness some amazing outfits.

If there’s anything that I learned when I moved from rural Vermont to Paris, it’s that life moves fast and it’s easy to get swallowed up into the masses. Fashion is one of the ways that we can stand apart, that we can make a statement. I am all about staying true to my own style and I hate wearing something I’m not comfortable in, but I also love adapting the style I see around me. I draw my inspiration from everywhere, from Lena Dunham’s descriptions of haphazardly constructed outfits in Not That Kind of Girl, to Taylor Swift’s powerfully classic red lip, to the trends on the covers of French Glamour that I pass the news stands in the metro. I love classic and simple combinations: a leather jacket with a good red lipstick or a dress and a denim jacket. Every closet has its staples and I definitely rely heavily on mine, especially when traveling.

I can’t wait to bring a little bit of Paris to this site, and to all of you. Paris is known as the home of the greats; from Chanel to Céline to Cartier, many of the most recognized names in fashion got their start here. What’s amazing about Parisian street style is that a Chanel blazer can be paired with a basic pair of jeans, a Louis Vuitton bag mixes well with a simple sundress- it’s all about being comfortable and having your own style, not about flashy labels. Check in every Wednesday to see my post of the week!
