STYLE GURU BIO: Hannah Bertolino

Hey Fashionistas, my name is Hannah Bertolino!  I am a freshman journalism major at Belmont University, which is located in the heart of the music city, otherwise known as Nashville, TN. However, being born and raised just outside of Boston, MA, my heart resides on the east coast, especially in New York City, which I dream of calling home one day. I can’t remember a day where I wasn’t in love with fashion; my mom even tells me about when I was little and refused to wear anything besides my favorite princess costumes and miniature high heels. That being said, I am incredibly excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista this semester. Besides fashion, I also love trying out the latest makeup and beauty trends, listening to acoustic music, drinking lattes from different Nashville coffee shops, going on adventures with my best friends, writing for Her Campus, and traveling—especially when it means I get to visit a city.

I feel lucky because my love of fashion has grown up with me in life, from the days of princess dresses, to the days in middle school where I would run home after school to watch makeup tutorials and OOTD videos on YouTube, to high school when I worked by first retail job at my hometown’s TJ Maxx store and became a Nordstrom fashion ambassador. Fashion continues to mature with me in life today, as I write fashion articles for my school’s chapter of Her Campus and now am beginning my time with CollegeFashionista. Being in college, I now know that working with fashion is how I want to spend the rest of my life.

My definition of fashion is not just a pile of clothes which you throw on in the morning before you run off to your early morning class. Although, sometimes, I am way too familiar with that story, fashion, to me, is something greater. Fashion through my eyes is a way to express my creativity, portray my mood, take risks, or channel confidence which I couldn’t otherwise find.

My style is a combination of reaching towards what’s trending at the moment and wearing my favorite go-to comfort pieces. For this look, I decided to do just that—I layered a comfy gray long sleeved tee with a sleek metallic slip dress, and threw on a classic pair of chunky black boots to balance the outfit out. Also, I had to add a simple choker to complete the look. This look is great for any occasion because you could easily dress it up by swapping out boots for heels or the choker for a statement necklace, or style it like I did for a more casual look.

So Fashionistas, I can’t wait to continue with CollegeFashionista for the next semester. I hope through that time my articles inspire you to get a glimpse of fashion through my eyes, and also help give you some RAD outfit inspiration.
