Style Guru Bio

Hi everybody! My name is Hana Mathe and I’m so incredibly excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista for my second semester in a row. Last fall, I had so much fun writing for ACCESSORIES REPORT. Not only did I learn a lot about fashion, photography and the writing process in general, but I was able to gain plenty of valuable experience that I’ll be able to take with me after college.

I’m currently in the middle of my junior year at a small school in the Bay Area called Saint Mary’s College of California. Even though the campus is tiny, there’s plenty of fashion inspiration everywhere I look. Nestled in between Oakland and San Francisco, Saint Mary’s is filled with eclectic Fashionista/os who embody the trendy, cool California vibe.

Though California is my new home, I was raised in Colorado. Being from an extremely active and outdoorsy state, my wardrobe includes a lot of flannels and oversized sweaters. Make no mistake though, I like to amp up these closet staples by pairing them with more fashionable items, like fun tights and unique accessories. Not only that, but I’m obsessed with wearing infinite amounts of black and gray. I can also generally be found in a pair of leather combat boots.

Regardless of my extensive collection of combat boots, flannels and sweaters, I also believe in experimenting and playing around. Fashion is a great way for people to express themselves which is why I’ve always thought that it’s important to try different trends and styles. Like many people, I’ve gone through various phases in my life, ranging from tomboy and skater to girly and bohemian. Now that I’m getting older, however, I like to think that I’ve found a good place where my wardrobe includes a little bit of everything.

Since my style is so broad and all-encompassing, I’m extra excited to be writing for STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK this spring. I can’t wait to share my tips and tricks with all of you and I’m looking forward to a great semester on board with CollegeFashionista!
