STYLE GURU BIO: Haimanot Tilahun

Hello (again)! I’m Haimanot Tilahun, and unless you read my bio from last semester or happen to be Ethiopian, you probably have no clue how to pronounce that. It’s okay, I probably wouldn’t know how to either. I’ll make everyone’s life a little bit easier just call me Ham.

I am a rising junior at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. If you drive 90 miles north from there, you’d find my home in Alexandria. I’ll be spending my summer here in Northern Virginia. Moving back to Alexandria this summer has made me realize how much I appreciate not having to parallel park. “It’s the little things;” this has kind of always been my motto as you have no idea how much parking could change your day. (Well I guess you’d have to live in a city to understand that.)

I have a love/hate relationship with sleep. I enjoy the time that I get to spend sleeping, but I tend to feel guilty afterwards. I guess I’m a workaholic as I love seeing how much hard work can pay off. Don’t get me wrong, I love presents, but there is nothing like the feeling when you know you’ve truly earned something.

I am disgustingly obsessed with perfumes, handbags, couture and many other things that my current college budget isn’t allowing me to enjoy. That’s okay. I can enjoy them from a distance, for now. I hope that whole “hard work thing” will help me enjoy the things that I love.

I appreciate good music every single day. It keeps me sane, seriously. Anyone who knows me will tell you much I love to talk (they aren’t lying). There is also nothing like a good conversation and then there’s mac and cheese and chocolate chip cookies. But that’s another story. Remember, I told you guys it’s the little things!

I am so excited for another semester with you guys. Xoxo.
