I am finishing off my last semester at California State University, Sacramento and will be receiving a Bachelor’s of Arts in Fashion Merchandising and Design. I’ve had a lot of fashion experience including running shows, social media, journalism, designing, illustration, retail, visual merchandising, modeling and more and am spending my final semester of college with doing an internship revolving around an activity I find relaxing and interesting: writing about fashion in the form of blogging.
Fashion design is my passion, but I also enjoy the theatrical arts—I am minoring in Theatre in which I focus on costuming and performance. Other hobbies include video games, comic books and going to places like Comic Con and other pop culture themed events.
Being a intern for CollegeFashionista gives me the opportunity to showcase the fashionable students on my campus and to illustrate that fashion is everywhere—not just New York, Los Angeles or Paris. Your location should never dissuade you from dressing up or pursuing a career in fashion and hopefully my posts can help flesh out that truth.
Aside from school and my hobbies, I have an office job to help pay the bills and online shopping for unique clothes on Storenvy and thrift shopping. I try to balance a ‘professional’ look with still dressing young and comfortable. Dark colors are always safe to use, and pairing navy and black are usually my go-to combination when I run out of things to wear in my closet! The cardigan was thrifted, but a similar one can be found at American Eagle.
The pencil skirt is a classic article of clothing and it is in black—in fact, I made it myself because I needed a black pencil skirt (I plan to start selling some funky ones at my store under my brand, Pixiegift Fashions. I dressed up my look a bit with pearl accents—a small bracelet seemed to do the trick to add a little extra to the attire. The pearl bracelet was from my grandmother’s jewelry collection, but can easily be found at places like Macy’s.
