STYLE GURU BIO: Gina Grasso

Hi Everyone! My name is Gina Grasso. I am a freshman at Philadelphia University, studying fashion merchandising and management. It’s my first semester with the CollegeFashionista program, and I am more than excited to find the best dressed people on campus and write about them every month! My school is a smaller art school, with a majority of the students in my major. I see a lot of the same people everyday, and I’m always inspired by their fearlessness in their style. I believe the people here at Philadelphia University not only wear trends, but set them. I am lucky to go to a school with such creative people!

Now, a little bit about me. My favorite color is blue, but lately I have been obsessed with rose pink (hence the bomber jacket). I’m really into music, so whatever I’m doing I love to have it on in the background. My preferred style of music is alternative. My favorite show right now is Shameless, and my favorite movie is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I am also really into writing, whether it be for school or not. I really enjoyed my Writing 101 class in the fall, and I am excited to progress in 201 this semester. Outside of school, I have a fashion blog, which I hope to grow for my résumé. When I think of my dream job, I imagine myself as a mix of Carrie Bradshaw and Rachel Green. In a perfect world, I would love to write for a fashion magazine. My style inspirations are Alexa Chung and Kendall Jenner. I love the relaxed and minimalistic style of both women. Kendall’s style tends to be more edgy, while Alexa’s brings in inspiration from menswear. Both are styles that I am inspired by.

For the look I’m wearing, I paired a pink bomber jacket with a mock neck striped T-shirt. I love the way bombers and leather jackets are an easy way to complete an outfit. I am also a sucker for anything striped because stripes go with just about everything. A striped T-shirt is like an upgrade of a white T-shirt. For my jeans, I went with my most casual pair. I thought the blue shade went nicely with the pink bomber. Jeans are by far my favorite item of clothing—I happen to own 13 pairs. It really doesn’t help that I work at American Eagle because they have so many types of jeans and with a 60% employee discount; it’s hard to say no. Finally, for my shoes I chose my over-the-knee boots, which are actually from Target! These shoes are perfect for day or night, and they definitely go to good use for me. For casual outfits like this, I use them to make my outfit look more put together. On weekends when I go out with friends, I wear them them to make my outfits look more edgy.
