I’ve always been known as “that” girl. The one who shows up everywhere overdressed, the one who remembers people by what they were wearing, the one who has never worn a sweatshirt in public…
My name is Gina Bonitatis and I am a self-proclaimed fashion addict. My appreciation for clothing and style began in high school once I realized I didn’t have to dress like everyone else to have friends or fit in. It came to me one day that wearing pieces nobody else had and getting dressed up for school made me feel better about myself than the comfiest pair of sweatpants ever could — I was hooked.
Since then my style has evolved into utilizing the more unique and daring pieces the industry has to offer. Clothing, to me, is by far the most important aspect of appearance. Through a well thought-out outfit, you can grab the attention of a total stranger, become a style icon (if only for a minute or two) or become the most interesting person in the room. Life is too short for me to even want to throw on that same pair of jeans with that same black fleece every other girl in the room is wearing.
I am a second semester junior at the University of Delaware studying Fashion Merchandising. One of my favorite parts of walking around campus everyday is observing peoples’ outfits, which means I am beyond excited to be a Style Guru this semester. For the next few months I will be writing for the LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS column every Tuesday as I keep a careful eye on any and all fabulously dressed guys on campus. So boys, put away the gym clothes and sneakers and break out your best!
