STYLE GURU BIO: Gina Berkery

Growing up my pre-teen self thought it was a brilliant idea to spend all cash on the latest graphic Abercrombie & Fitch tops and denim mini skirts. However, my college self looks back and wishes someone would have stored all that money in a bank account I could retrieve now to spend on the latest Steve Madden gladiator sandals. My name is Gina Berkery and I am actively learning how to balance my yearn for the latest trends and incorporating old pieces into my new style.

I have lived and grown up in New Jersey and have stayed close to home to attend Rutgers University. It is only fitting I would choose a school with a decent color scheme as my wardrobe quickly came to reflect that I am a proud Scarlet Knight. I am pursuing a degree in marketing and truly believe the persuasion skills I have picked up in my classes are a clear reason why I am so easily able to persuade myself to spend rather than save.

“Something old, something new and something blue,” would be the simplest way to describe my style. I have paired a new baby doll top with some old light wash denim jeans. My gold necklaces are from eight years ago, but layered one on top of the other bring life to the dated pieces. Adding simple jewelry was an easy way to give a classy touch to this summery outfit. I finished off the look with some strappy gladiator sandals, a must-have for summer 2016.
