STYLE GURU BIO: Gabrielle Piloto

As I sat down to write this, my fifth STYLE GURU BIO, I realized that I would have to say I was a senior at the University of Florida. What? I really cannot fathom that I graduate in a year, but at the same time I am excited to see what this year has in store.

Hi, my name is Gabrielle Piloto and being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista has honestly been one of the best parts of college for me. Fashion is such a huge part of me. I think it is so important to feel confident in what I am wearing. It sets the stage for my whole day. It doesn’t matter if I live in Paris or little old Gainesville; if I like an outfit, even if I know I will get crazy looks, I wear it. There are so many fashion trends that people are afraid to try, but trying them is part of finding a fashion identity. And even though I have been trying different fashion trends basically all of college, I feel like I am just starting to find my own fashion identity.

While it’s true I wear a large variety of styles, what I gravitate towards the most is simple and classic mixed with touches of vintage and femininity. Think Madewell meets kate spade meets a thrift store. That odd description is basically the dictionary definition for the style of this look. I paired vintage distressed high-waisted Levi Brand Jeans shorts that I found at a thrift store with a classic white T-shirt and a brown leather Dorothy Perkins belt. To add the feminine and classic touch I paired the casual look with a pale pink oversized blazer from Cotton On. To finish the look I wore my high-top Converse with lace-trimmed socks and my everyday jewelry: bangles, my initial bracelet, a leather Fossil watch and my black onyx ring. Oh, and I cant forget to mention my favorite lipstick, Retro by MAC.

I hope you enjoy reading and “Rad”-ing my articles this semester. Although you might not think about it, UF is full of interesting, super-stylish people. All I have to do is look—and pray I brought my camera to campus.
