STYLE GURU BIO: Gabriela Candelaria

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistas! I’m Gabriela, but you can call me Gabi. I am excited to be coming back for my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I’ve been able to learn so much about fashion and style. Fashion allows us to express our identity, it should always be based on what you find interesting.

I am a senior at Pace University majoring in Accounting with a concentration in Taxation. People always ask if I like math, and yes I love math! Although I’m studying to be an accountant, I do plan on furthering my education in Fashion. To me fashion is more than just a hobby. Currently I am also enrolled in Teen Vogue’s partnership with Parsons School of Design at The New School working on earning a certificate in fashion industry essentials.

What’s my favorite thing to do? I am very artsy. I have been drawing since I was younger and I began taking art classes in high school. I tend to draw a lot of realistic pieces and I love drawing fashion illustrations. After interning as a Style Guru this past summer, I also developed a love for photography. CollegeFashionista has given me the opportunity to better my photography skills and even score a couple of gigs as a photographer.

Now lets move on to my personal style, I would describe my style as edgy. I tend to dress girly, colorful and dressy most times because I work at a women’s clothing store called The Limited. This store is for modern young woman and is mostly known for business wear. My favorite piece to wear to work would have to be a blazer; it is literally one of my obsessions. As for when I’m not working I tend to wear a lot of neutral colors like black, gray, olive green and white.

The outfit pictured really represents my style and it includes all of my current favorite pieces. I paired my suede pointy toe stiletto over-the-knee boots with some ripped jeans. As always, I usually like to base my outfit around the shoes I’ll be wearing for the day. I’m also wearing a comfy soft-layered poncho with a camisole underneath, completing the outfit with my textured coat. Of course, I had to accessorize! So I added a cute black fedora with a small structured bag (that has this adorable fur keychain) and I kept it simple with a watch and a silver bracelet.

So get ready to follow me as I hunt down some awesome fashion in the streets of New York City! Tune in every month to see what I have in store, you’ll be sure to find some new inspirations for your outfits.
