STYLE GURU BIO: Francesca DeCastris

Hey there, party people. I’m Francesca DeCastris and I am so excited to be starting my senior year at Purdue University. I am a Retail Management student with an Entrepreneurial minor aspiring to somehow make my mark on the world with all the wacky ideas I have in my head. It’s an entrepreneurial thing, let me tell ya. As you can see, retail is love of mine. Yes, the long hours and sometimes difficult customers can be a lot to deal with at a store level. I have had my experiences working for retailers such as J.Crew, BCBGMAXAZRIA and Chico’s. From those experiences, there is a type of appreciation I have gained for those who strive to provide the best customer service experience. On top of that appreciation is more appreciation for the fashion industry itself. It’s constantly inspiring me and challenging me to express myself to others through more than just my actions and words. Oh, and let’s not forget that shopping in general is such a mood booster and should be registered as a physical activity that I can input into my Fitbit!

This will be my second semester being on the CollegeFashionista team for Purdue. I am very excited to finally be able to capture not only Purdue’s unique style but the beautiful scenery my campus has to offer. I missed my home! But I do have to say, I hope to bring back some style from home to hopefully inspire other Fashionistas/os on campus. My main goal is to get the ladies to start dressing to the nines when we go out and partake in social activities. I just find it very odd that 21-year-old and above women aren’t dolling themselves up, especially when they are out to meet and impress others. It’s time for change on this campus and I am not asking for everyone to wear a formal dress but I shouldn’t have to feel like I am overdressed in a jumpsuit and pair of wedges (insert See-No-Evil Monkey Emoji). But don’t let me fool ya, I am the first one to grab my athletic leggings when the weather gets chillier.

I am ever so excited to combine my love for fashion with my keen eye for detail in order to share with you the fashions around me on campus. Keep a look out for my future posts!
