Hello! I’m Farah Markis, and I’m thrilled to get started with my second semester as a Style Guru. Last semester, I wrote for the LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS category, and as challenging as it was, I am now much more familiar with menswear overall. Scouting out fashionable gents and featuring them in a stylish way has become like second nature to me. This summer you can follow my journey showcasing how details enhance style. Whether it’s mixed metal jewelry, pastel hair dye, nail art or tattoos, stay tuned on how to let your originality shine!
I’m currently a senior studying at Florida State University. I’m Florida born and raised, so I’m naturally drawn to the outdoors. As many of you have probably noticed, I’m still rocking my round metal Ray-Bans from my first semester.
I’m heavily inspired by culture, French films, traveling, seeing live music and frequenting art galleries. I love collecting nature; lately I’ve been into pressing flowers and dabbling with essential oils and fresh herbs to make natural perfume. I’m also a huge fan of a natural beauty and wearing makeup that is animal cruelty free, like NYX. Lately I’ve been digging their pale pinks and nude shades of lipstick.
On my days off, I enjoy the perfect balance of exploring and living the city life. My love for fashion and inspirational musings can be found in my photographs on Instagram. As for my personal style, I’m into everything being flowy—from layering modern pieces, to mixing in vintage and lace. At the moment, I love white and textured fabrics that represent a minimally-chic look. I live for a good jewelry binge, and as seen here, I chose to compliment my festival look by stacking gold rings next to two of my favorite raw stones.
I find a lot of inspiration from the fashion blogs of my favorite retailers such as Free People and Urban Outfitters. After seeing the FPmovement collection launch, I’ve been lusting over a new pair of handmade ballet slippers, which would look beautiful paired with a loose-fitting dress overlaying a lace halter bra.
This summer I’m going to pick up a jewelry making class, where I plan to pour my heart and soul into creating unique pieces that are one of a kind. Thanks for reading! I’m looking forward to an exciting and fashionable semester reporting on ALL IN THE DETAILS each Friday, at CollegeFashionista!
