Fashion is my future. I could not see myself pursuing anything else because nothing makes me as happy or gets me as excited as fashion does. The constant changes from season to season and the never-ending inspiration sources for daily style are some of my favorite aspects of the industry.
Another important part of fashion, for me at least, is the freedom a person has in dressing him or herself and the personalization of their style. My style never stays the same, but my love of the color pink is forever. A lot of how I dress or put together outfits depends on the day and my current mood. Pieces I cannot live without include: my pink Dr. Martens, my pink watch, my plethora of beanies and cozy sweaters. One thing I have come to learn is that investing in high quality pieces is far easier than increasing the volume of clothing in my closet. While it is nice to have options, too many make it literally impossible to decide what to wear. I am finding myself truly enjoying those finer things in life.
When I am not studying hard for school, scouring fashion magazines and blogs or writing for CollegeFashionista, I am attending concerts and festivals. Music has consistently inspired my style choices and it’s a topic I am passionate about. Similarly, I am a huge TV nerd. I love movies and catching up on my favorite shows (and I have a lot).
While I am currently enrolled and attending College of DuPage, I will be graduating with a degree this spring and transferring to FIDM in Los Angeles (that is the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising). I could not be happier to pursue a degree in fashion and attend the school of my dreams. 2014 already has so many great things in store.
This spring I will be contributing to the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column. Since this is a whole new category for me, I am beyond excited to show off the styles of local Fashionista/os. Stay tuned for fresh and current style advice!
