My name is Emily Winkelman. I am a senior at Auburn University, and I am majoring in Marketing and minoring in Theatre. I was born and raised in the theatre world. My parents have worked in and taught theatre for more than twenty years. While my childhood was a bit different than most, I believe growing up with Shakespeare, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Spring Awakening helped develop me into the creative person I am today.
While I know a lot about the theatre, fashion is what I am most passionate about. I hope to work with a marketing department for a big (or somewhat smaller) fashion magazine. I firmly believe that all those years watching Project Runway prepared me for what the fashion world has to offer. I am a big believer in both fashion and my university. I look forward to providing information on what is currently happening on Auburn’s campus. Whether it is going to the library, tailgating for a football game or preparing for a night on the town, I look forward to bringing CollegeFashionista followers the inside scoop on southern fashion and trends.
As for my personal style, I like to wear neutral, coral and cream-tone basics and vintage and flirty dresses. When shopping, I immediately head towards the sales rack. My mother always taught me that you can buy twice as many clothes if they are 50% off. I also search for bargains in local thrift stores. Thrifting is so much fun! It’s a good day when I am able to find vintage and designer pieces. Why buy full price when you can save money and still look great?
I am so excited to be part of the CollegeFashionista family for spring 2013. Spring is my favorite time of year for fashion. Since the south is in a constant state of warmth, I enjoy being able to wear skirts and sandals almost anytime of the year. Writing for the WHAT TO WEAR section of CollegeFashionista will allow me to offer students suggestions on what to wear for specific events. As a Style Guru, I hope to make a fashionable difference with my street style findings for any college student.
