STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Simester

Hi! My name is Emily Simester. I proudly “bleed blue” with my fellow Wildcats at the University of Kentucky. This August marks the beginning of my senior year, and I am excited to share Lexington’s street style during my final year.

Between the endless school spirit, incredible professors and beautiful campus Lexington, Kentucky has a lot to offer. Originally, I was drawn to this campus because of the unique educational opportunity it presented to me. However, I have come to learn that Lexington is full of amazing people and sites to see that extend beyond the borders of campus. A major was introduced to me three years ago that is a combination of creative advertising, account management and public relations. All of these are areas that I am interested in! Now as I get ready to head into my senior year, I find myself fortunate enough to have a curriculum that allows me to exercise all of my skills.

Since the beginning of my undergraduate career, I’ve been lucky enough to get a taste of the real world through various internship opportunities. From working in the athletics department to planning events for a restaurant in downtown Chicago, I have learned a lot. As the fall semester begins, I am ready to take on CollegeFashionista and learn all that I can! There are many niches in Lexington, Kentucky and I am thrilled to publicize the unique style that exists in this city. From everyday wear to horse race attire, a large array of fashion exists. I look forward to sharing our campus culture!

Beyond school I am an advocate for health and wellness (with an occasional sweet treat), laughter and seeking to find the beauty in everything! My outlook on life is positive, and I believe that with any situation, what you get out of it correlates with what you put into it.

My wardrobe contains a mixture of bohemian and modern pieces. My style on a day-to-day basis showcases my mood and how I am feeling. I enjoy trying new trends and playing around with old and new pieces in my closet to create a look. For jewelry and accessories, I find that less is more. Adding a little sparkle to the outfit is plenty. My mother always taught me that before you leave the house you should always take off one accessory!
