STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Rody

Hey there! I’m Emily Rody and I’m so excited to be a Style Guru for Purdue University this upcoming spring semester. This bio is to let you get to know a little bit about me and my personality that will be behind the articles that I am posting.

I’m a sophomore at Purdue University studying Retail Management and soon to be minoring in Professional Writing. I hope to use these backgrounds in fashion and writing to pursue a career working for a fashion magazine. Living a life like Anna Wintour in NYC would be the goal, you got to dream big right?

I was born and raised in Indiana and although I dream of moving to a big city, I’m still here. But I can’t complain because I love Purdue and all of my great friends here. Ever since I was a young girl I always loved fashion and putting together different outfits. From playing dress up as a child, to keeping fashion journals and reading countless editions of Vogue as a teen, to now pursuing a career in the field it has always been something that I am extremely passionate about. Because of this, I am thrilled to get to share this passion with you this semester. I can’t really define my style in one word or phrase because I like to dress based on my mood and look that I am going for at the time. I always love classic and feminine looks, but after that it’s a toss up for the style that I am into at the moment. Some days it’s a preppy look, while other days it can be more grunge or trendy. I love getting my inspiration from magazines, blogs or even just other fashion-forward students that I see on campus.

However, I currently love the layering options this winter. Although my style might change I can always rely on a good pair of black jeans to pull an outfit together and give it a trendy edge even if I just threw the look together. A great skinny leg pant is always a perfect pair for all of the cute booties that have been appearing this season. Booties like the one in this post have been my recent obsession because of their great practicality. You can easily wear them to class or throw on a pair with a little heel and have the perfect shoes for going out. Adding a cozy blanket scarf or wide-brim hat is a great way to stay warm and stylish this winter.

Now that you know a little about me and my style I hope that you stay up to date on all the latest fashion trends through my posts and the style at Purdue University. I can’t wait to start sharing my style and semester with you!
