STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Gustin

Hello and welcome to my CollegeFashionista page! My name is Emily Gustin and I am Fashion Merchandising major at Radford University. Shopping has always been one of my passions, so I decided what better way to explore the world of clothing than to major in it?

Fashion has always been a part of me since I was little girl. Every time my mom would take me shopping, I would pick out all the glittery, sparkly and funky patterned clothes.  I always somehow rocked the cheetah purse from Limited Too and the butterflied-bedazzled, flared jeans. I’ve always loved clothes, shopping and style. To me, it has always been a form of expression and art. Choosing an outfit that fits your mood, or even the occasion, somehow always fascinated me—from the way one girl could rock that green crop top from American Eagle Outfitters, to how I could change it up and rock that same top.

Just last year I landed my first job in retail. The store I work(ed) at has higher end prices and quality. I learned quickly that quality always rules over quantity. It’s practically the king when it comes to your wallet. I learned that nicer denim really is worth investing in, but as frugal as I am, I also learned that there is an easier way to get that higher-end denim in a much cheaper way! Thank you to the gods of Nordstrom Rack, and the sale sections of department stores. Why buy full price when in just a few months it’ll be a lot cheaper? Sometimes the wait is well worth it!
