Emily Freund here…a University of Iowa Hawkeye and a Chicago girl at heart. This coming semester, I will be studying abroad at the University of Swansea in Wales, UK. I am so thrilled to have been given this opportunity, and I am so excited to be on the College Fashionista team while I am there.
I am majoring in Communications with a minor in French. However, like many other students, I find myself changing my mind about this very important decision quite frequently. Since I am completely unsure of what I will be doing for the rest of my life, I feel much more confident in telling you all what I am absolutely sure of about myself at THIS moment: I love the Hawkeyes, Chicago will always be my favorite city, I am dependent on coffee and music. Perhaps most importantly, I could spend all day browsing clothing sites and putting clothes I will never be able to afford into a fictional shopping bag.
It can be hard at times for me to keep up my sense of fashion on a very small budget. In fact, I used to be someone who would go into stores and “need” everything that I saw, but after a year in college, as a very broke CollegeFashionista, I have learned to recreate looks I see in stores and on the runways, using what I already have access to in my closet.
I am excited to see what the United Kingdom fashion world has to offer, and I look forward to a great semester!
