STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Arieven

My name is Emily Arieven, and right now I am a rising sophomore at my dream school, Tulane University. I had the most amazing freshman year and cannot wait to get back to New Orleans in the fall. I have found in my time at Tulane that you can be inspired by fashion wherever you go, as I am every single day at school. I am a Communications major as of now, but I’m secretly hoping that someone will create a fashion major that I can switch to one day.

My love of fashion started basically at birth, being that I was born into a family of two parents that had successful careers in the fashion industry. My style is simple and modern, or as I like to call it, contemporary. My favorite piece in almost any outfit is a leather jacket, a timeless look that I sport frequently. I am known for always rocking my Emily necklace, a gift given to me when I was very little. I believe every Fashionista/o should have a staple piece that they are remembered for.

A lot of what I have learned about fashion has come from my work experience. Over the summers I was fortunate enough to have internships at Theory and Helmut Lang, pioneers in the contemporary market. Additionally, I worked at a store called rag & bone, where my coworkers inspired my fashion sense every day. I believe that fashion is fluid, and you cannot have one perspective. Instead, it is necessary to observe those around you and put your own personal stamp on your inspirations.

I am so excited to begin this journey writing for CollegeFashionista and cannot wait to see what my surroundings have to bring.
