STYLE GURU BIO: Ellie Pollack

Hi there! I’m Ellie Pollack and I’m a Junior at Drexel University! I’m studying design and merchandising and am absolutely loving it. Being in this major enables me to learn about so many aspects of the fashion industry in specifics while still instilling enough general business and marketing information to keep my career options open. I originally came into college aspiring to work in the wardrobe department for movies, and while winning an Oscar for costume design would still be nice, my dream job has shifted over the past three years towards being a Trend Forecaster. It’s something that I know will take a lot of time and effort, but all the best things in life do!

I’d describe my personal style as feminine and classic, though I do love the resurgence of bold, chic trends in fashion and beauty. I’m a firm believer that most problems can be solved with a swipe of lipstick and a pair of heels. As a girl who’s an even five-feet tall, I love heels. As it’s winter now and I walk a fair amount every day to get to work, I practically live in my chic black booties. In addition to my cleaner-cut work pair, I have my lace-up pair (as seen in the photos) that are perfect for the nighttime and going out.

I’m originally from Baltimore, Maryland and since I go to school in Philadelphia, my style hasn’t had to change too much to adapt to weather. It has, however, grown and evolved. I’ve learned what cuts and colors are (and aren’t!) flattering for me. It has enabled me to stray out of my comfort zone and try some new things in fashion while still being confident that I look nice.

In the pictures above, I’m wearing one of my favorite new pieces, a turtleneck from LOFT. It’s warm and comfy, and its wider cut makes it pair perfectly with any pair of pants. The pants I’m wearing above are from Nordstrom and I LOVE them! I have three pairs of them because I wear them so much; they’re my go-to for day or night because they’re so flattering and easy to make professional or dress them up. I’m trying to build my accessories collection and I’m starting with rings. H&M has some really great jewelry that’s easy to try out at a low cost.

I’m so excited to see what this term has to bring and I’m looking forward to seeing campus style from all across the country!
