STYLE GURU BIO: Ellie Hoffmann-Avina

Hey guys, what’s up? My name is Ellie. This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I am so excited to be a part of such an amazing team! I am currently a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and I am studying retail and consumer behavior. In my spare time, I enjoy catching up with my favorite vloggers, listening to music and reading. To give you a closer look, I’m currently obsessed with Ashley Brooke’s vlog on YouTube and the book Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht (I recommend checking both of them out). In the future, I see myself moving to New York and continuing my love for fashion on a much larger scale through either merchandising or buying.

As a Fashionista, I know that every person has their own style aesthetic and mine seems to be forever changing. It currently revolves around muted tones with an added pop of color or statement piece to keep the look fresh and interesting. By wearing my dusty-rose bomber jacket, black choker and adding my burgundy cross-body bag, I have added an interesting twist to what could have been a simple outfit. I also know that clothes can affect a person’s attitude and change the way a person feels and acts, therefore I always dress the way I want to perform. As I head out to enjoy a fun afternoon with a friend, I decided to keep my outfit fun and simple to keep myself in a cheerful mood while still being comfortable.

I am also a firm believer in serendipity and the power of fate, so when it comes to shopping for clothes I hardly ever have anything specific in mind that I’m looking for. I simply let the clothes speak to me and if it’s meant to be it will be. With that in mind, I also believe that life is too short to be worried about what other people think. I always stay true to myself when it comes to the clothes I wear, whether that’s wearing jeans and a T-shirt or something a little riskier.

I look forward to my first semester as a Style Guru and I hope to inspire both myself and my readers with the looks from all the Fashionistas and Fashionistos on the UW – Madison campus!
