My name is Elana Katz and I am a born and bred New Yorker. Currently, I am a rising senior at Union College studying History, Film and Theater. I am a self-proclaimed denim enthusiast and will rock the middle part until the day I die.
Prior to my internship with CollegeFashionista, I was an editorial intern at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, a senior sales associate at Anthropologie and a Looks on Campus Contributor for Collegefashion.net. With each opportunity, I have honed my eye and artistic skills as well as reaffirmed my affinity for creative expression.
I am very excited about my internship with CollegeFashionista and look forward to the coming weeks filled with style and trends from Union College. Throughout my internship with CollegeFashionista, I will be writing FASHIONISTA/O SPOTLIGHT posts, which are quite simply my favorite. Spotlights are the best way to get a feel for how a Fashionisto/a expresses him or herself sartorially. I am excited about the opportunity to showcase and share these trends with other fashion enthusiasts from across the country and around the world.
My love for fashion began when I saw Cher Horowitz’s virtual closet and her unique style in the 90’s classic Clueless. From that point on, I’ve immersed myself in the fashion world through literature, blogs, films, exhibits and shopping, of course.
My favorite aspect of fashion right now is street style. I follow and admire the work of world-renowned street style photographers such as Bill Cunningham and Scott Schuman. There is something special about spontaneously photographing people on the street, in the midst of their day, showcasing their ensembles and unique styles. As Bill Cunningham says, “The best fashion show is definitely on the street. Always has been, and always will be.” I believe this to be true and I hope my posts throughout the summer season will reflect Bill’s wisdom
