Hello! My name is Divanna Salazar and I am currently an incoming junior at The University of Texas – Pan American. I’m a Mass Communications major with an emphasis in Public Relations/Advertising, along with a minor in Marketing. I am pleased to announce that I will start writing the What to Wear column. As a first timer Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, I am anxious to share my fashion advice to the readers and hopefully inspire Fashionista/os out there to try something new in their wardrobe! This internship is amazing to me because it involves the things I love doing the most: fashion, writing and photography.
Fashion has always been a huge part of my life and a way of expressing my sense of style and creativeness. Being from south Texas, I have learned to acquire the hot weather and culture into my outfits, never letting either one completely manipulate my sense of style but instead inspire me to think outside the box. I can’t describe my sense of style in one one word, because I like experimenting with new and fresh incoming trends, while still staying familiar with my girly self. I like taking classic looks and making them my own with a hint of modern and edginess. I get fashion inspiration from many different outlets. Fashion magazines, blogs and street style are my main three categories. That’s the spectacular thing about CollegeFashionista, getting personal and relatable advice from people everywhere and mixing it up to make it your own.
My mother has always been my main fashion icon throughout my entire life. I’d like to think that she was the main reason why I fell in love with fashion at such a young age. As a little girl, I always liked to experiment with my outfits. As I grew older I realized that it was more than something I wore on my back, but instead it was a way of life. The business side of the fashion world fascinates me in every way, and I cannot wait to become apart of it one day.
Overall, I am more than honored to be writing the WHAT TO WEAR column and I look forward on noticing how it will inspire my sense of style as I continue with this new journey.
