My name is D’Elia Majoria, and this is my third term having the incredible opportunity to write for CollegeFashionista! I am currently on summer break from being a full-time student at Loyola University New Orleans, where I am a senior and hope to graduate with a degree in Management and a double minor in Accounting and Psychology.
New Orleans summers are a different breed. You may think you know what “hot” means. I’m sure other places have summers with high temperatures. However, the true definition of the word cannot be understood until you are standing on a street corner with your melting snowball waiting for the streetcar and you feel like passing out from the thickness of the humidity and the sun beating down on you is a very real reality. That being said, getting dressed in the morning can be quite a challenge in the NOLA climate. Luckily, New Orleans has been my home since birth so I’m well-versed in dressing for this difficult weather and slipping some style in!
In terms of style, I’m always looking to challenge myself by pairing items that wouldn’t normally go together whether that’s by mixing patterns or by coupling metallics with denim. However, I do have trends that I fall back on regularly such as my stacks of rings, braided rope bracelets, and my ever-faithful Dr. Martens. This summer, stay tuned for the never-before-seen articles STYLE GURU STYLE, where each writer (including myself!) will translate a runway look to their own outfit!
