STYLE GURU BIO: Deanna Hagen

Hey gurus! My name is Deanna Hagen, I am 20 years old, and I am a senior at Stony Brook University. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, and somehow haven’t managed to make it out yet. I am completing my undergrad in business marketing, with a minor in technological systems management.

While I am not a fashion major, or a supermodel, I am all for putting together a great outfit. “Look good, feel good”—a very true statement. Being a busy, lazy, poor, and overwhelmed college student, I think it is so important to be comfortable, while still looking great, and not maxing out your credit card. I definitely think that simplicity is key, but at the same time there are no rules in fashion. This is my first semester with CollegeFashionista, and I am looking forward to being inspired, and seeing all of your beautiful unique styles!

I chose this outfit because I think it is a great representation of my personal style. Cardigans are and always will be my go to cover up. Not only do they look great, and come in so many different styles, but they are so comfortable. For someone lazy like me who loves to just throw on a hoodie, this is the perfect alternative without having to compromise your look. As seen in my outfit, they are also the perfect piece to hang off the shoulder to show a little more skin. As for my pants, I went with a comfortable pair of loose-fitting boyfriend jeans. These particular ones are high-waisted, and are perfect to pair with a tight tank top or shirt because they are a looser fit, and I feel this can really compliment your figure. These also give the casual wear and tear look with their rips, however not too much that you’ll get a comment from every adult over the age of 30 about how you have holes in your pants! For my shoes, I am wearing a classic pair of black booties. These are the perfect in-between of dress-up and casual, however you can also try Steve Madden slip-ons for a more comfortable, casual alternative. Last but not least, I am accessorizing with a simple black choker, and a black lace bralette. Chokers are one of my favorite accessories, as I am not always comfortable wearing big jewelry. They add the perfect amount of accessory, with one simple piece, and they can be as simple or detailed as you choose! The same goes for bralettes. My simple black tank top now looks like a cute lace top, with the small addition of the bralette.

Here’s to a rad semester!
