STYLE GURU BIO: Danikha Catada

Hey there Fashionistas/os! My name is Danikha Catada but everyone calls me Dani. I am a junior at Baruch College in New York City studying Intercultural Communications and International Business. I am and have always been a bookworm, a performer and an advocate for all things environmental and animal friendly. This has led me to go down more academic and artistic paths so I’ve never had the opportunity to explore the fashion industry. It’s always something I’ve been deeply interested in so I’m super excited to see what’s in store for me during my first semester at CollegeFashionista!

In my style, and all other aspects of my life, I emphasize comfort and function. You’ll rarely ever see me running around in heels or buying anything I couldn’t wear with five other things I have in my closet. This is a very me outfit as it balances casual and chill with “I am very busy and running on caffeine.” Since I was born and raised on the Upper East Side of Manhattan my roots in fashion are preppy-chic. I always try to incorporate this element into my outfits and do so here with an oversized, yet fitted blazer.

The rest of my outfit is as casual as it gets: denim shorts, a graphic T-shirt and my favorite sneakers at the moment. I would usually pair this look with a statement bag such as my favorite Rebecca Minkoff rose gold MAB tote. This leads me to another integral aspect of my style: accessories. I’m a sucker for a cool pair of sneakers, silver jewelry and a huge bag I can throw my stuff into. The sneakers I’m currently obsessed with are my adidas Superstars. These babies can be seen everywhere these days, and for good reason! They pair with everything and are the perfect athleisure touch for daily wear. On my wrist and hands I’m wearing the same jewelry I wear everyday. I’m a strong believer in low maintenance things and never having to take off these assorted Alex and Ani, Cartier and Casio accessories is perfect for me. This outfit is definitely one I’d wear for a long day at school or for running errands.

Make sure to stick with me for a RAD semester of finding the best looks at Baruch College and to gain even more inspiration from the fashion mecca that is New York City.
