Ever since I was a little girl, I always found myself judging all the dresses on the red carpet or styling my outfits based on the fashion icons I found in all the magazines. I used to cut out outfits I liked and tape them all over my closet door. When I was young, however, I was NOT a Fashionista. I paired all the wrong things together and let’s just say that it was not pretty. Now that I am a sophomore in college, I make sure not to look like I did back in middle school. I’ve learned the correct way to present myself as well as learning what looks good and what does not.
The biggest thing that drew me to CollegeFashionista was the fashion photography. I’ve been involved in fashion photography for almost three years now, and it is one of my favorite hobbies. It started when I got a camera for Christmas three years ago, and I was super stoked. I invited all my friends over all the time, and we did photo-shoots almost every weekend. Then I started taking photography classes and I got more serious. Now I take pictures of people and fashion all the time. As a Video/Television major at Hofstra University, I have learned a lot about fashion and photography as I am being introduced to the television industry.
I will be writing the FASHIONISTA/O SPOTLIGHT column for CollegeFashionista this semester, and I am super excited. Spring is my FAVORITE season because it means we can transition from cute sweaters and boots into shorts and maxi skirts. Spring is full of vibrant colors and new patterns and I’m so excited to embark on this semester! Hofstra is full of diversity and it’s the perfect place to scope out the fashion scene. Usually you will see me around campus in a comfortable pair of leggings, an oversized sweater and tall boots. I’ll usually jazz up my outfit with a statement necklace or a vibrant scarf.
Here I am sporting one of my favorite spring or winter outfits. It’s a jewel printed tank top from Mystique Boutique NYC as well as my favorite pair of patterned jeans from Free People. I also LOVE my wedges that I got from DSW. I am also wearing an oversized black cardigan from Urban Outfitters. I’m so excited to show you all of the Fashionistas/os that walk the Hofstra campus because I know you will love everything that they have to offer!
