STYLE GURU BIO: Danielle Healy

Ready for round two? I am! Hello, everyone. My name is Danielle Healy, and I am a sophomore fashion merchandising major at Kent State University with a double minor in visual journalism and fashion media. This is the start of my second semester with CollegeFashionista, and I’m sure it’ll be another fantastic one.

The fall semester was a great one. I had a blast scouting the styles that traverse the Kent campus every day and having the opportunity to write about and share them on the CollegeFashionista site. I began to take more writing classes in pursuit of my minors, which was a really exciting step for me in my academic career. The semester was busy with schoolwork (of course), so when I wasn’t marching into battle against microeconomics, I was usually playing video games, reading or spending time with some of my favorite people.

So now that I am more than a year into my life beyond Catholic school, where the concept of uniforms hasn’t even been a thought for quite some time, I feel my style may finally be settling into its own. A common joke among my friends is that 80 percent of whatever you find in my closet could be worn to a professional business luncheon. This is not entirely untrue. My closet is clad with a lot of button-up tops and blazers, but what makes my style “me” is that those pieces are also sprinkled with a lot of quirky prints, chunky fandom jewelry and plenty of colored Converse shoes that brings down the overall “formality” of the other pieces.

That’s what is really so great about fashion, though—everything is open to interpretation. One is free to mix and match the prettiest and the grungiest of pieces, and however you choose to do this, you can’t be wrong. In fact, it’s perfectly right!
