Hello world. This is my third time around at CollegeFashionista and I must say that I have learned so much about being a Style Guru, writing and myself. Some may call me a veteran in the fashion world, and others may say that I have much to learn. In some ways, both of these statements are true. Throughout my life and especially these past three semesters, I have learned about the world of fashion, everything it has to offer and my place in it. While I might think I know how to dress, or call myself stylish, there is always room to change, grow and improve.
Trends, like emotions, are temporary; some are good, some are bad and they both go away. Just like a trend or an emotion, one good one or one bad one should not overcome you. It should not make you change everything about yourself or your wardrobe and it should not end up defining who you are. Try not to stay stuck and always know that something better is coming along.
Style, on the other hand, is eternal. If you know who you are and you like what you like, then I hope you are dressing to make yourself happy. If you are dressing for someone else, like someone else or in anything that is not you—you are doing something wrong. To be stylish is to know who you are, be confident in how you represent yourself and to always wear your clothes – not let them wear you.
I’m too excited about where this semester will take me (I hope it’s somewhere far away from Brian Lichtenberg T-shirts and somewhere closer to a Céline bag).
