STYLE GURU BIO: Daniel Holguin

Aspire to inspire: that’s what defines this 22-year-old Texas native.

Hey everyone, my name is Daniel Holguin. I am a senior studying communication at the University of South Florida, with a concentration in culture and media. My passions include filmmaking, photography and of course, fashion. These are more than just passions, however; they are the tools that help me deal with my anxiety. The creative process allows me to express my emotions through any of these outlets.

My personal motto is, “aspire to inspire,” because I believe this mindset can truly change the perspectives of individuals and enable a more open-minded community through established common ground.

Now, let’s talk about how that translates into my aesthetic. I take inspiration from various decades, mostly the ‘50s, ‘80s and ‘90s. When I’m not wearing my go-to earth tones, you will find me wearing: a pop of color, cuffed jeans, high-top Chuck Taylors, a baseball cap and some sort of jacket, sweater or my weakness, a cardigan.

To complete my looks, I bargain shop. It is something I try to instill in anyone that asks me for fashion advice. Some believe that spending an abundant amount of money on an outfit is essential to make a statement or “look good.” However, I believe restricting yourself to a budget implements innovation and creativity, and with this produces a greater impact.

That being said, I’m stoked about joining the crew of Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I hope to inspire at least one person through this RAD journey. If you want to join the adventure of #AspiringToInspire, give me a follow, there’s more than enough room for all of us!
