STYLE GURU BIO: Colleen Power

January 6th, 2015 at 2:00am

Hi everyone! My name is Colleen Power, and I am a sophomore in the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University. I am majoring in Business Administration with primary concentrations in Marketing and Finance. I am so incredibly excited to be returning for my second semester as a Style Guru. The lengthy winter break brought me the perfect combination of travel and rest to fully rejuvenate and excite me for a fresh, new semester in the city that never sleeps.

My love for fashion has always been evident. As a five-year-old growing up in a small, suburban New Jersey town, I was the little girl that showed up to school in fancy dresses, sparkly, red Mary Jane shoes and doily socks. As I grew older, I became more and more cognizant of fashion trends. I finally pledged myself as a prepster in middle school when a striped, multi-colored Ralph Lauren sweater found its way into my overflowing closet. To this day, I am crazy about gingham and pearls, and I believe that every person needs a favorite button-down shirt. Although I still add a preppy touch to my daily wardrobe choices, I usually combine other fashion trends, like boyfriend jeans, to give my look a unique edge in order to capture my personality.

My passions do not only extend to fashion. During my freshman year of college, I recognized my great adoration for writing as I wrote endless upon endless assignments for my classes. When I discovered this haven known as CollegeFashionista, I realized I could focus on fashion and writing as a Style Guru. What could be better than intertwining these two great things? I have also been inspired to write about my fashion choices, as well as others, largely because of some of my favorite blogs. I am constantly keeping up with “The College Prepster,” “Design Darling” as well as “Gal Meets Glam.” These bloggers have contributed to my growth and appreciation for the blogging and fashion industries.

I have gained plenty of exposure to all of the different and latest fashion trends as a college student living in New York City; therefore, I cannot wait to capture and share the fabulous fashion choices of my fellow Fordham Rams around campus.

I am so thrilled to be a member of the CollegeFashionista team yet again this semester. Be sure to read my weekly posts on Tuesdays to check out the happenings of Fordham’s Fashionistas/os!
