STYLE GURU BIO: Clara Livingston

January 19th, 2017 at 2:10am

Hello! My name is Clara Livingston and I am a junior economics and mathematics/statistics major at Carleton College in freezing Northfield, Minnesota. This is my fifth semester as a Style Guru (I know crazy!), and my fourth as a social media intern for the Social Media Society. I am so excited to spend another term showing you looks from my campus and working with some majorly rad people. When I am not writing or taking photos for CollegeFashionista I play violin, do stand up comedy, ski, and search for cool new bands to listen to.

Nowadays, I have found that shopping for clothes has become even more exciting and interesting. Compared to middle school and high school, when I would buy as much cheap clothing as I could, I have changed the way I approach my style and fashion in general. No longer am I drawn to gathering as many items as possible for as little as possible, but thinking about what I am adding to my closet that complements my style and makes me happy. Although I am thinking more consciously about what I wear, it does not mean my closet and dresser are any less stuffed.

If you look back through my previous four Style Guru Bios you may see a favorite fabric of mine—denim. So it is no surprise that this term features my favorite material in the form of black jeans. I love how easy it is to style up or down jeans for a night out or in. Pairing them with a simple black turtleneck keeps the base layer neutral and providing a perfect background for my favorite purchase of 2016, my pink leather jacket. Floral embroidered shoes complement the pink, add some height, and complete the look.

Here’s to another term! Can’t wait!
