I’m so psyched to be back with CollegeFashionista for another semester. I’ll be contributing to my favorite section of articles, LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS, on a weekly basis. Commonly we find on the web fashion blogs, Pinterest boards and Tumblrs dedicated solely to the latest fashion inspirations for women. Because of this universal idea that a love for fashion is strictly associated with women, I often find that my male friends know little of the basic contemporary trends. Guys, surprisingly dressing up can be fun and painless. I’ll try my best this semester to give all you men the best fashion advice out there.
My love for the arts began when I first was able to put crayon to paper. As I matured, my stick figure drawings developed into illustrations of people and animals. I was always a little diva at heart but once I learned that creating clothes could actually be a career, my doodles in class became the beginnings of a sketchbook for my first fashion designs. Though more recently my passions has changed to photography and graphic design, I’m still a regular reader of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. I’ve always enjoyed giving styling and outfit tips to friends and family, so I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to share my ideas with all of you readers.
My style for the most part has always centered around neutrals and simple patterns. Blacks and a variety of grays have always dominated the majority of my closet. I’ve always loved the simplicity and class that inevitably comes with an all black outfit, but more recently I’ve tried to reinvent my style with lighter and more colorful clothing. I’ve been slowly warming up to the idea of color by incorporating light blues, pinks and tans to break out of my seemingly gothic style. Though I’m attempting this transformation, you’ll have to pry my wax-coated black pants and leather boots from my cold, dead fingers. There’s just some things that a girl’s just got to have.
