STYLE GURU BIO: Christine Giannetti

Hi! I’m Christine. I’m a senior at Rutgers University and a journalism and media studies major specializing in creative media. I’ve always loved art and free expression, which manifested in so many ways in my life, including my appearance and sense of style. Writing has always been a big part of my life as well, so I could not be more excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista!

I love experimenting and taking risks with fashion and makeup. I especially love the look of mixing super girly pieces with edgy ones; I think it’s visually dynamic and aesthically appealing. Growing up, my mom would put my hair in pigtails and dresses accompanied by a boy’s flannel and baby Timberlands—this mixed style has stuck with me ever since.

For this look, I’ve got my hair in what I call space buns, which is honestly such an easy and fun hairstyle! It’s perfect for that second-day hair or hair that isn’t quite cooperating. It looks like I put effort in even though it only takes about a minute to achieve—perfect if you’re in a rush. Next is a staple piece that will never go out of style: giant sunnies. The ones I’m wearing are from Quay Australia, which is a very affordable brand with so many quality pieces. A lot of the inspiration from this look comes from the ’90s, including the dark lip, stacked chokers, and a (literal) vintage band T-shirt I picked up from a thrift store. What better to go with a band T-shirt than fishnets and ripped denim? Finally, I finished the look with some super comfy booties.

I hope everyone likes this look as much as I do, and I’d love to follow and friend some fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos on social media!
