Hello Fashionistas/os! My sophomore year of college at Indiana University has come to an end and summer has begun. I am so excited to get some summer fashion inspiration this season as this is a new experience to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. Summer is such a fun fashion season, so I am thrilled to see how every Fashionista shows off their style. Time to drop the books and grab your shades!

I started college as a journalism major, but ended my first year by changing my major to apparel merchandising. I have grown to love the fashion industry even more.

Soaking up the sun and sipping on a cool Starbucks drink while listening to John Mayer Pandora is my forte. It’s the simple things in life. However, remaining ambitious and passionate drives who I am and who I strive to be.

The arts have always had a strong impact on who I am. Music, art and fashion have been part of my life from the very beginning. Even as a little girl, I used to want to be a “fashion designer” so, naturally, I would draw dresses on stick figured girls. Amidst the chaos and struggles of college, I had finally found that fashion was something that had always excited me. Those who don’t understand fashion may assume that fashion is materialistic or superficial. To me, fashion is an expression of the self. It is originality, confidence, beauty and a way of life. Fashion is everywhere. You can play dress up or capture a certain look with every outfit.

You may not think of high fashion when imagining the state of Indiana, but Bloomington is full of so many different styles and fashions that I love. As an official Style Guru, I’m eager to pick out those who have the same eye for fashion, but perhaps to also inspire someone’s outfit choices of the week.

This look was inspired by the Arizona sun/West Coast fashion, but I am now back in Indiana, so Midwest weather may bring different looks. In these photos, I am wearing my favorite pair of Bullhead Denim Co. distressed jeans, a denim button-down wrapped around the waist, white crocheted tank and favorite Target heeled sandals. I tie in my favorite accessories including the trending beaded tassel from Francesca’s, a fun pair of LA Hearts mirror aviators, my neutral cross-body bag and trending Alex and Ani wrist game.

As Beyoncé would say, let’s have a toast to the good life and…
