STYLE GURU BIO: Chinomso Odimegwu

Kedu (hello), my full name is Chinomso Odimegwu, but everyone (including you) calls me Chino. In case the name wasn’t a give away, I am from the exotic and heavily cultured country of Nigeria. When I’m not in school anticipating graduation, this 22-year-old can be found slowly taking over the social media world.

My hobbies include: modeling, blogging, photography and wedding planning- ah yes, I’m what you’d refer to as your average renaissance woman. In addition to being a renaissance woman, I’m also a health professional, studying to take my LSAT in 2016. Don’t be too impressed; your life experiences will lead you in the direction in which you will go- mine just happened to bring me here.

This bio wouldn’t be complete without me touching on the subject of fashion, so here goes. When I was younger, my bookworm lifestyle really didn’t favor me as far as looks and style went. My uniformed Harry Potter overalls were killing my vibe and upon entering high school, I knew I needed to get rid of them or attend a school that actually had a uniform code, so that I wouldn’t be forced to experiment with fashion (whatever that even entailed was beyond me). The more confined I was in a uniform, the more I found myself rebelling more and more into a Fashionista. It started with me layering my uniform with excess clothing, changing it up a bit or even breaking the dress code by adding something that was against the school dress policy (e.g. abstract printed dresses, scarves, sandal heels, huge headpieces, high-waisted pants). Today, I have discovered for myself through being sheltered, that ones own style comes when they force themselves to step outside of their comfort zone. Fashion is a way of life and as a Style Guru, it has now become my job to try to celebrate each and every one of you who chooses to stand out and step out of your comfort zones, in the direction of self discovery.
