Looks like we meet again Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I, Charity Gates, am back for the summer writing internship with CollegeFashionista. This upcoming academic year I will be a Junior at Emory University studying international studies and sociology. It seems like just yesterday when I started writing for CollegeFashionista. Last semester was pretty exciting writing for both FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT and CollegeDormista. I’m even more excited to start my first summer semester writing for the new AROUND TOWN section. In this section, I’ll be highlighting all the hotspots to check out around the Atlanta area. This includes featuring trendy boutiques to peruse, chic fashion events to attend and possibly finding a few budding fashion designers.
This will also be an amazing season because I am trying to revitalize and redefine my summer wardrobe. I want to move away from muted tones that I wore last summer which I should have saved for fall. Now I am excited about the new trends exhibited on the runways and on glossy pages of magazines for this season. Bold rompers, printed sets and flowy kimonos are some of my favorite go-to items that define the current 2014 summer. It also seems as if the colors have gotten even bolder this summer which makes my color-blocking senses trés excité. I can’t wait to infuse more colors into my life. As they say, color and happiness go hand-in-hand.
If you’d like to get a taste of my personal style, I like to think that I channel the artful print mixing of Solange, the effortless chic of Olivia Palermo and the creativity of Jenna Lyons into my wardrobe. These women and many others in the fashion industry give me daily inspiration. I hope I can help the readers determine who their style icons are as well. I am thrilled to share more of my fashionable musings as the summer blazes on and discover the stylish side of Atlanta.
