It is hard to imagine that just one semester ago I was anxiously typing, deleting and retyping my first Style Guru Bio. I am so honored to be writing my second semester as a Style Guru for Texas A&M University.CollegeFashionista was my first writing experience and has given me the confidence to pursue writing in other aspects of my life. Being able to showcase Fashionisto/as unique styles has been a consistent reminder of how much I love fashion.
I think my love of all that is fashion began the moment my mom strapped me in a bow bigger than my head and sent me out into my first pre-school class. Since my time of bows and tutus my style has vastly changed in to something a little more…different. As a senior sport management major in middle of nowhere College Station Texas, you would probably find me with blaring headphones in my ears with a monster sized Diet Coke (hey everything is bigger in Texas) in my hand still swooning over an early 2000s Chad Michael Murray. I really cannot describe how excited I am to again be apart of this CollegeFashionista team!
I find style inspiration in many different forms; from the free-spirited vibes of 1960s hippie goddesses like my girl Stevie Nicks, to edgy street styles featured on the racks of Urban Outfitters everywhere. Paring unique pieces with layered jewelry accessories or even rocking a fun nail like mine featured above by nailsyall are the simple aspects of my look that make me, me! One could say my fashion wardrobe is a bit all over the board, but who ever said spiked earrings don’t go with tunic dresses and kimonos?
I will be writing the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column, and I could not be more thrilled. My absolute favorite quote is by the wonderful and ingenious Harry Winston: “People will stare. Make it worth their while.” I could not agree with Mr. Winston more, if I could give ya’ll one piece of advice throughout this column, it is to be you. I lived the majority of my life not pursuing the things and style I loved because it was unlike everyone else, but once I finally allowed myself to be different from the crowd I finally found me. My hope for this article is to give you all, my readers the inspiration to find your inner you.
