How does one begin to describe their fashion journey? Mine began with tutus and hot pink bows, and ended with combat boots and crop tops amidst sweaty hippies and cool grunge kids swaying to the beats of indie bands at world famous music festivals. Does that sound a tad bit strange to you or is it just me? Although some may say I had an unorthodox style transformation, I developed my creativity and my (somewhat) different sense of taste though these huge music events. I studied the “look” of those around me at these music festivals and instantly feel in love with the free spirited sense of style that almost every attendee had down! I used these “models” to develop my own stylishness today.
After that being said, let me introduce myself, where do you think I am from? California? New York perhaps? Nope. My name is Chandler Stout and I am from the great southern state of Texas! I am currently in my third year at Texas A&M University in College Station. Haven’t heard of College Station? Didn’t think so. As a Style Guru I will be writing LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS every Tuesday! My hope is to show the great diversity within Texas while showcasing current trends that all Fashionistos need to put into their closets today.
I draw a lot of my personal style from what I call festival-punk (with a little bit of preppy, I mean I am from the south!). If you rummaged through my closet you would find everything from Forever 21 sweaters to Urban Outfitters dresses with massive cut-outs to whimsical Free People tops. I found mixing lower cost items with splurge pieces makes for a funky and affordable overall look.
I am so excited to be going on this new adventure with each of you. Let’s all take advice from the genius Harry Winston, “People will stare. Make it worth their while.”
