STYLE GURU BIO: Chandler Spencer

Originally being from a small town in Pennsylvania to attending a very large Division I school was a huge transition for me. I have never been described as the life of the party or even talkative. In high school, I was too shy to even raise my hand in class. I knew that if I wanted to grow as a person, I must come outside of my comfort zone and push myself to do things I would not typically do. Once I went away to college, everywhere I looked, there were new doors that led to new and exciting opportunities.

Fashion for me has always been a way to express myself. The times when I could not find the right words to say I think my outfit described who I was. l I like to think of my personal style as fun and flirty yet timeless and simple. I typically let one piece or garment be center stage and have the others act as background dancers. When all are working together, they tell a beautiful story. When I choose an outfit for the day, I choose it because it makes me feel confident. I have always envied the girl that walks into lecture 10 minutes late and walks down the aisle to the front row. When I’m late to class, I’m a) internally panicking, and b) sneaking into the last row praying that the door does not make a sound when I enter. When I wear an outfit that makes me feel confident, I want to walk down the aisle to the front row and act as if I’m on a runway modeling a beautiful gown by Diane von Furstenberg or Stella McCartney.

Beauty and fashion have a powerful influence in the world. They have the ability to bring out confidence in even the shyest of girls. The price or brand of the outfit is not what matters. What matters is how a girl feels when she looks in the mirror and sees her reflection looking back at her. And she’s thinking, I can do anything I want to because I am confident in who I am and my outfit showcases that.

I am looking forward to sharing more articles over the next few months with my fellow fashion lovers!
