STYLE GURU BIO: Celia Carbone

Welcome Fashionistas! I’m Celia, and I’m a freshman journalism major at Emerson College in Boston. I had a great experience writing for CollegeFashionista this past semester and am exciting to join the Guru Gang for another!

My personal style is inspired by the Northeast, but being enrolled at such an artsy school has had a positive impact on my style. I am more apt to change up my style and mix and match.

Living in Boston, I need to be prepared for all weather conditions (like snow on a Monday and 60 degrees on a Wednesday—yes, it happens).

As a journalism student, I understand the value of filling my closet with essential, timeless pieces that I will hold onto for years. I am building a more professional wardrobe with basic, essential pieces that I can wear to class and to a news site to report. My mom taught me to always be dressed as if you were going to see someone important, and, living in Boston, I never know who I may pass on the street.

My professional style icon is journalist Megyn Kelly. Not only is she one of the most recognized journalists today, she has a seamless, professional style that is feminine and respectable.

In my featured looked I adorned my favorite look of the season: a simple vest with boots. This past holiday season I was able to pick up a few staple pieces on sale including my cream vest from J. Crew and pebbled leather boots from Tory Burch.

I am grateful to spend another semester writing for CollegeFashionista!
