STYLE GURU BIO: Cece Sjoquist

Ciao Fashionistas! My name is Cece Sjoquist, and I am thrilled to start my second semester writing for CollegeFashionista. It was so fun connecting and collaborating with fellow Style Gurus, as well as, gaining inspiration from the Fashionistas and Fashionistos that roam my campus.

I am a junior at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, and I will be spending this semester abroad in Florence, Italy continuing my studies in fashion retail merchandising. I am excited to live in a new place and experience a whole new culture. I have been dreaming of living in Italy as long as I can remember. Milan is one of the biggest fashion capitals in the world and I am just a short train ride away.

In the process of packing up my wardrobe for an entire semester, I have been forced to rummage through my closet and start to get rid of those out-of-style pieces I haven’t worn in years. I have decided to crack down and really define my style before I head abroad. This will allow me to pack my favorite classic pieces and have lots of room in my suitcase for shopping the latest European trends (and of course share them with you!)

Here, I was going for a relaxed “walk around the park while sipping a cappuccino” type of look. This big chunky sweater is a must have for the chilly winter and I am obsessed with the off-the-shoulder look, you can find a similar style here. These culottes were my go-to spring/summer pant, so I just wore my fleece lined tights underneath in order to incorporate them into my winter wardrobe. Mine are a flowy satin pant, but these thicker wool ones might be more suitable for these winter months.   My Italian leather boots are ready to head back to their homeland, and I threw on the hat last minute to add a little sass! (Find one here).

I can’t wait to share my fashion experience abroad with all of you! Stay tuned.
