STYLE GURU BIO: Cece Casolino

Hello world! I’m thrilled to be a part of the CollegeFashionista family and honored to call myself a Style Guru for good ol’ Mizzou. I’m a sophomore at University of Missouri and apart of the Chi Omega sorority on campus. I’m from a suburb of Chicago and photography is currently my biggest passion. I hope to one-day join the Peace Corps as a full-time photographer/missionary. Until then, I can’t wait to get creative and show you all what I love!

Since I was young I was a firm believer in the more you wear, the better you look. I’d throw on plaid and polka-dots and be sure to put every barrette I own in my pony-tail-braided hair. By the time I made it to the bus stop my older sister would take it all out. Being young you wear tutus and cowboy hats with a smile on your face because you like it, not to please anybody else. Years later now my motto hasn’t changed, and I pray it never does, “Self confidence is the best outfit”. Sure some things look better than others but the important thing to remember is everyone has their own style, and I think that’s pretty darn cool.

This being said, my personal style changes constantly, depending on my mood. I like to be able to feel comfortable and confident because you never know where life will take you or when your picture will be taken (especially when you feel “Insta-worthy”). I really enjoy Free People and Urban Outfitters when it comes to my boho-like days. Also, I adore H&M for the basics because they can be mixed and matched with a variety of accessories. Plain accessories are staples for me. I like to have my go-to nude heels, plain black purse, pearl earrings etc. because they go with anything and everything.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am still a sucker for long sleeve sweaters with leggings and cute sandals. However dark-washed jeans and cute top is a great choice too! On a typical day going to class I find that trends set here at Mizzou are more laid-back and simple. I have become accustomed to the more prominent southern trends since coming all this way from Chi-town: Vineyard Vines, Southern Proper and literally anything that’s monogrammed paired with white converse. However, like I said, every one has their own style!

I can’t wait to see the mix and matches everyone comes up with so I can expose them for the fashion forward innovators that they are! I pray my weekly posts inspire you to try something new and give you that push you needed to pull out those overalls from the back of your closet and ROCK THEM. Don’t forget to finish every outfit with a smile because like Audrey Hepburn once said, “I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls” and I certainly agree.

Don’t miss my weekly articles posted every Monday!
